brief bio
Khyl has never believed in the Covenant’s religion; he only ever believed in what they did, not the reasons why. he has always been excellent at deceiving others into thinking that he is utterly devout; none have ever suspected the truth, and even when leading his own faction after the shattering of the Covenant Empire, only expresses hints that he may no longer believe in the Great Journey as he once did.he joined the Zealot Order relatively early on in his career as a Covenant warrior, but only became a Sangheili-ai ( that is, a Swordsman ) after the tragic death of his beloved childhood friend ( whom he was planning to marry ), Ina ’Savam. he also joined the ranks of the Devoted Sentries at this same time. after a fashion, he came to lead the Devoted Sentries, rising to the rank of Field Marshal within a few short years. he would remain the commanding officer of the Zealot chapter up until a few months before the campaign on Reach, because he believed that it was another’s turn in the role, and that he was better needed elsewhere. he would subsequently take part in the fighting on the planet, assigned to a Ket-pattern battlecruiser, Destroyer’s Invocation, as its highest-ranked ground officer.after the destruction of Reach, with unrest beginning to bubble within the ranks of the Covenant, Khyl suggested to the Destroyer’s Invocation’s Shipmaster that they should take the opportunity to regroup at Whispering Trees and recover their strength. three other warships — Ceudar-pattern heavy corvettes that had taken damage in the fighting — followed suit, feeling rudderless with the destruction of the fleet they had been part of. while this handful of forces were gathering themselves with intent to rejoin their brethren among the Covenant, the Empire shattered from within at the hands of the High Prophet of Truth’s machinations… and shattered without at the hands of humanity.seeing this moment as an opportunity, Khyl urged the commanding officers to follow him, and subsequently formed his own faction: the Tempestuous Blades.
the blades
his faction, named the Tempestuous Blades, consists primarily of other Sangheili, as well as Unggoy, two Jiralhanae, Mgalekgolo, some T’vaoans, a Huragok, and some humans. the majority of these individuals were under his command during the final stages of the Human-Covenant War, and continued to serve him even as the Great Schism broke out. the rest, he has recruited from various other factions that are scattered throughout the galaxy, including but not limited to: former members of the Banished, former members of the Jul ’Mdama’s Storm Covenant, former members of the UNSC, and former members of the Keepers of the One Freedom.his faction possesses four warships in total—
- Destroyer’s Invocation, a CCS-class battlecruiser ( Ket pattern ), lead ship
- Faithful Twilight, an SDV-class heavy corvette ( Ceudar pattern )
- Thundering Vengeance, an SDV-class heavy corvette ( Ceudar pattern )
- Unyielding Fervour, an SDV-class heavy corvette ( Ceudar pattern )
